Wine Review: JCB No. 7 Pinot Noir

Although my site is mainly dedicated to great wines for $20 or less, I have to talk about any great wine I come across, even if it supersedes my “No more than $20 for everyday wine” motto.  I will have to start a new category.  Maybe I will call it “Good Stuff That Doesn’t Fall into the Everyday Wine Category”.

First up is a wine from a collection I represent.  Introducing the JCB Collection from Jean-Charles Boisset of Boisset Family Estates.  Each of the wines in this collection are named by a number that represents a significant time in the life of proprietor, Jean-Charles.
The JCB No.7 came to me in the November Circle of Boisset Wine Club shipment and I could not wait to try it.  I have become such a Pinot girl over the past year or so.  This wine, upon first taste, is for sure a favorite.  It definitely won’t be in my “Everyday Wine” category with the $50 price tag, but it is worth having a bottle or two on hand for sure.
 Name:  JCB No. 7
Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir
Vintage: 2012
Alcohol: 14.5%
Appellation: Sonoma Coast
Aromas and Flavors Young: cocoa, fruity berries
Aromas and Flavors After Breathing: raspberries, cranberries, chocolate, spice

The No.7 for this wine represents the age Jean-Charles was when he had his first encounter with wine after one of his parents’ dinner parties.  It would set the tone for his life-long passion for great wine.

This wine is definitely one you don’t want to miss out on.  To order it, visit my website www.boissetwineliving.com/missmagnolia.  Save 20% on your order by joining the Circle of Boisset Wine Club.
