People often ask me what my favorite varietal of wine is. That is a complicated question for me to answer, as my taste buds change by the season. Such as the case, I spent the entire fall drinking nothing but Zinfandel. Every bottle, every time…Zinfandel. My favorite thing to grab off the shelf was an Old Vine Zinfandel from Lodi. Yum! Well now, I get to experience the best the world had to offer at the annual Zinfandel Experience in San Francisco.
Sponsored by the Zinfandel Advocates and Producers group, wine experts and enthusiasts alike can experience three full days dedicated to the love of and appreciation for Zinfandel. ZAP member benefits include access to a Welcome Reception and Farm-to-Table dinner, a seminar-style tasting, and a Winemakers Dinner and Auction. The event at center stage is the public Grand Tasting, held at the beautiful Pier 27 on the Embarcadero. Guests will mingle with winemakers, sample delicious bites, and of course have a chance to taste over 500 wines poured by some of the best producers in the world.
The event is set from February 23rd-25th. In addition to Pier 27, One Market and the Bently Reserve are also hosts to this “can’t miss” occasion. Saturday’s Grand Tasting will also feature a “Meet the Maker Roundtable”, in which ticket holders will “speed date” winemakers for 20 minutes in a fun and informal atmosphere.
